Pitfalls and notes

  • Russian apostille from Consular Department of Russian MFA and regional bodies; goes on original before translation.
  • Belarusian documents from 2010+ are bilingual (BY/RU); we translate the Russian version with origin note.
  • Kazakhstan: Latin spelling of names mandatory since 2018; older documents in Cyrillic only.
  • USSR-era certificates (pre-1991) from union republics often need a Polish civil-registry attestation.
  • Old USSR passport may appear for people born pre-1992 — translated with annotation.
